3 Steps to Make an Article NOT Interesting

Now here is another topic that I am very good at - NOT making an article so interesting. The reason I wrote this is for us to avoid those common mistakes. I have actually made an article before entitled "How NOT to Attract Readers!" but this article is different because we'll actually concentrate on the article and not the blog. Although this will have the same positive effect on your readers - if you do the opposite :).

1. Bad Title
The first and most important thing we should know is that making the title for our article is very critical. Have you ever noticed yourself whenever you are reading your emails and you sometimes found yourself reading SPAM mails? That is because they have a very catchy title. The first two seconds of your blog visitor's time is reading the title so it is very important to make a very good impression.

2. Worst Introduction
Okay, you have caught your visitor's attention when they read your article's title. Now it is important that your first 50 words would be worthy of their time too. You have to make them read on until the end. I know it is quite hard. I still am having the same problem sometimes that is why I have lots of unpublished articles here in this blog because I don't find my very first 50 words interesting. One good tip: It must be related to your title. Believe it or not, by doing this you are actually optimizing your site as per SEO's (Search Engine Optimization) requirements. If you do this step, you'll be expert in no time in SEO Blogging. One other thing, Google is actually ranking (PageRank) your site or blog according to how related your content is to your title so be very cautious about making a catchy title but unrelated content.

3. Not Delivering Your Offer
Who said anything about an offer? Well, your title says you'll give pointers on how to earn $20 bucks instantly, so where is it?

You've caught their attention so now you must deliver according to what you've offered which is of course what your title said. Imagine yourself seeing a grand sale of your favorite bag, jewelry or t-shirt and after standing on a long line of people to the cashier, you found out that the item your holding was not really included on the sale items. It doesn't matter if your article is long or short as long as you deliver your offer because if not, they'll feel deceived, disappointed and will not ever come back to your blog again.

There you go. That is how you make an article NOT interesting. Thank you for your time.

Money in Blogging Part 1: SEO and SEM

I've been reading a lot lately about how you can earn through blogging with affiliate ads, blog reviews and search engine marketing but only a few I've read were quite solid and has proof of the said experience. My approach in my research didn't quite go well since none participated, I anticipated that anyways. It's a good thing I've already made my research from the past and I just want to confirm the latest approach or programs that may add to my research.

In my previous research, the best earning option for a user to earn online is the use of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Blogging on their sites or blogs.

SEO Blogging

Optimizing your site or blog to be more visible to search engines is the best way in earning income. If you are using Google's Adsense and you have executed the best pratices in optimizing your site which means best ad placements, best ad type (picture or text), best ad size and best keywords then you are on the right track already and of course quality content.

Rewards

My previous article was about the advantages in using EntreCard and that won me a 5000 EC. Yehey! Well, it is actually a give-away made by Entrecard to all their members. Make a review and win credits and that is a sure win for all who joined. It will take me a lot of dropping before I get to have that amount of credits so it is a great reward.

PR-anking!

I am trying to get noticed here people! No, not by you - okay, you noticing me would be greatly appreciated (thank you) but I am all for Google right now and all of its cousins like Yahoo, Bing, etc.. Yes! they are all search engines.

From here on, all the developments you'll be seeing in this blog which one of them is trying to remove most of my paid ads is to get their attention. I just removed the Ask2Link and SocialSpark since I suspect those two would greatly affect my PR in a negative way. Why? Both of them are for selling ads. Adgitize, CMFAds and EntreCard however will stay since they are Social Networks and I call them my Traffic Boosters because technically, I am the one paying them for traffic. Adgitize just compensate me by returning my investment. EntreCards maybe selling ads but the usage is mainly for traffic and while I earn at CMFAds - I use it for traffic as well. So those three are mostly for getting attention - Yes, I like attention - kill me if you have a blog that don't need attention. Adsense will also stay, since it's Google's son or daughter so they won't mind.

If you still wonder what I am doing, you can read my previous article here. Since Google's PR is trying to ignore those site/blogs who they sensed is/are selling advertisements, I decided to fully optimize my site for that purpose or atleast try to optimize it for Google's attention. I wish to have a more visible blog where atleast Google can sense me.

Why Google is my primary objective search engine?
Because they have almost dominated the search engines, even I can't stop googling. Bing is currently the second and Yahoo is the third.

How about you? You like Google to notice your site/blog?

Backlinks, Blogrolls, etc...

The links going back to your site or leading to your site has a major and important role in your PR (PageRank). It simply means your site is important.

One good example is the ever famous Blogroll. It is very seldom for a blog to not have a blogroll probably new ones but they'll have one in no time as they find new friends to add on that blogroll. Blogroll is like a shake hands and "Hey! I like you! Can we be friends?" and without even asking permission others put those links because they like to, because they are important. Most bloggers add their friends in their blogrolls, it is normal. So, does it help? Yes! It not only builds relationship but like I said it is the basis of how important your site is.

Have you read an article that really inspired you? Sometimes it inspires you a lot that you make the same post or copy the most inspiring part of that article and then you make a link to it - that link is just a normal link or a url. Did you know that there is a better way of telling that blogger that inspired you that his link is inspiring that helps his blog and yours as well? Well, not all bloggers use this feature called Backlinks. It is by the way available at Blogger, I think all blogs have this but you must activate it. If you don't know what it looks like, do the following:
  1. First, this topic must be selected exclusively which means you are not reading from the main page. You must select this topic first.
  2. If you are already reading this article exclusively, check below this article - even below the comments and look for "Blog About This Post" and you will find a link there "Create a Link". That is where the backlink is created. Of course if you click that and if you are logged-in to Blogger, it will open a new window where you can create a new post for your blog that contains the link to this article. I don't know what happens if you don't have a blogger account, I'll probably try it later to confirm.
If you did make an article, you will find the url of the post that you made on that area thus making a temporary link to your website. I said temporary because the blogger can remove this if they wanted to. I used to think this is a bad thing for my blog so I deleted those backlinks. Now, I am not expert on this matter but I believe the link can be permanent as long as the blogger did not remove it. So how does this help you? It will not just add PR to your site but it will also make you more visible in search engines. The more backlinks you have in your blog, the more visible you are in search engines and it is called SEO or Search Engine Optimization, but if you are marketing your site for money it will be called SEM or Search Engine Marketing.

A Quick Info: Backlink creates two links, one to your site which contains the link to that article and the article's backlink area. The ones you find in the article is the inbound link and the ones found in your article is outbound link.
Warning: Don't overdo it or abuse this feature because Google has many serious people who makes sure you are not spamming. So try to monitor the backlinks in your site, if it is not related to the article that you made then remove that backlink. You'll lose your PR if you abuse this.

Hey! Did you know by dropping as often as possible in my EntreCard will promote your site for free. Yes it is true and while the Top Droppers at Entre is on my widgets sidebar the top droppers will remain sponsored for free and they can't delete your link since it is a widget. So what does this say? OPPORTUNITY! Yes, if you find a PR rated website with Top Droppers at Entre widget, try to drop there as often as possible - it will leave a mark eventually.

So enjoy backlinking.

SEO and PR Studies Blog

As you can see, there are previous articles that I have written about PR (PageRank) and I've been also studying about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Not to confuse myself and at the same time to test the knowledge that I've learned, I have setup a new blog which deals mainly only in these keywords - SEO / PR / Monetizing / Money Making Online. I am going to experiment on that blog whatever I've learned and if it works I'll be doing the same thing to all my blogs.

My other blogs name is "SEO and PR Studies: Yearn, Learn and Earn is the Goal!". You can visit it if you are very interested in optimizing your website for search engine and higher pagerank.

Helping Others Gain PR

On my journey to find how you can gain PR or PageRank, I found an article that is really helpful. It seems being friendly and helping others increase their PR can help you increase PR as well. How? Gaining friends with high PR or not and them linking to your site will gain popularity to your site. Of course you still have to work on your site/blog's content - it will still rely on the quality of the contents of your site.

One thing for sure is that the people you help, mostly will help you as well. A fellow blogger told me (she wishes to be anonymous since in her site she is also anonymous) that her blog started gaining popularity as soon as she started helping others gain their PRs by joining their contests, being a sponsor, making blog reviews for other sites as prizes, etc... In return most of them will return this favor as well.

Now, I am glad I am doing this contest. I found some new contests and I'll probably join them as sponsor as well. But in the meantime, I'll concentrate on my contest.

Tomorrow, I'll be adding a new prize for my contest and probably close the major sponsors. I don't want to make it more harder for the contests entrants by making so many blog/site reviews.

Tweaking Adventure for PR!

I am off on a new adventure and it's just right here in my own blog. It will be a tedious job but it will be worth it. I am one of those people who try to make their blogs raise PR. Currently, I am trying to study about it and it has come to my attention that Google raises a blog or site's PR according to the relativity of your posts. Stick to one theme or make your post relative to one another as much as possible. Well actually, it is one of the ways on how you can raise your PR. Why don't we tackle more about PR.

What is PR?
PR stands for PageRank. PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page's importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page's PageRank is calculated.

PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results. It isn't the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one. (reference: WebWorkShop).

Now I know what PR is, how can I check my site's PR?
The site's name is called Google PageRank Checker.

Wait, is PR important?
Well, if you are earning money from online businesses like affiliate marketing, SEO,or making product review through your blog or your website, IT IS IMPORTANT. Why? Of course if you like people to see your product - you'd prefer to advertise it where most people go or you'd prefer to put those ads on important sites.

Okay, that is it for now. I'm off to my adventure.
